  • One quirky eating habit of my family!

    Bloganuary writing prompt
Write about a few of your favorite family traditions.

While it might not appear realistic to others, our family has a unique and somewhat whimsical tradition when it comes to our eating habits, particularly with Chicken or duck curry. Regardless of the style or cuisine, my mom consistently reserves the bottom or tail part of the chicken for herself. The gizzard with the intestine is exclusively served to my dad, unless, of course, he’s in the mood to share with the rest of us.

This tradition holds a special significance for us, and when all the siblings are present, a specific allocation is made. The drumsticks find their way to the two younger sisters, while the wings are designated for my brother and me. The reasoning behind this division remains unclear to me. Perhaps it’s an inadvertent way to ensure that each family member receives a portion of meat in accordance with our age differences, or maybe it’s simply a quirky tradition that has evolved over time.

Regardless of its origins, I’ve grown accustomed to and, in a way, developed a fondness for this practice. There are moments, however, when I can’t help but envy my dad for consistently enjoying what is arguably the best part of the meal.

  • Diary the sanctuary of emotions

    Bloganuary writing prompt
In what ways do you communicate online?

I prefer expressing myself through writing rather than engaging in face-to-face conversations. My diary serves as a sanctuary where I pour out my emotions, expressions, and feelings. However, in contemporary times, I predominantly utilize platforms such as WordPress Prompt, X, Instagram, and various other social media sites to communicate. Occasionally, I complement my written messages with facial expressions, as I have a knack for effectively conveying emotions through non-verbal cues.

  • That one not-so-funny jokes road trip

    Bloganuary writing prompt
Think back on your most memorable road trip.

I have embarked on numerous road trips, primarily due to work commitments. Many times, I found myself relishing the journey more than the final destination. There are specific journeys that I’ve deemed worthy of preserving in my cloud for future reference. One such memorable journey involved two work colleagues and me, accompanied by one of my colleague’s uncles. Although it was a relatively short trip, lasting about an hour and a half, the late evening journey offered a much-needed respite.

During our journey, we didn’t engage in extraordinary activities. The sole constant was the tape recorder, seamlessly transitioning between local pop, classical, Bollywood, English, Bengali music, and Manipuri. Lost in our individual worlds, we absorbed every nuance of the sunset views amidst the bustling highway traffic. We marveled at the backdrop, ranging from mountains and valleys to clouds, factories, and the vibrant life of bustling cities.

Amidst the journey’s hustle, there were sporadic bursts of laughter, sparked by the only man in the car, who also happened to be the owner of the car, injecting some color with his not-so-funny jokes LOL. Although the journey seemed short, we reached our destination in no time. Nevertheless, I relished every moment, as it provided a brief escape from the hectic life of a 21st-century working woman. Upon reaching our destination, we unwound with delectable street food, cherishing the night after enduring weeks and months of hectic schedules.

  • Life Today: Navigating Unseen Paths

    Daily writing prompt
Is your life today what you pictured a year ago?

Is your life today the canvas you painted a year ago?
Envisioning one path, God’s plan unfolds, a different flow.
Opting for right turns, He guides left, unexplored,
Places unseen, His divine design restored.

Difficult, it is, to align plans with the divine,
Accepting God’s will, a challenge in each line.
Hope and faith, unseen hands to trust,
Invisible, yet omnipresent, God is just.

In the shadows, doubts linger, hard to bear,
Through family troubles, a continuous affair.
Failures stack up, a questioning mind,
Am I doing right? Is God truly aligned?

In the silence, where He seems afar,
Trust wavers, like a dimming star.
    The hardships, the family strife,
Is God present in this complex life?

Yet, as the day concludes, a truth unfolds,
A purpose for all, a story He molds.
In the maze, I search for my way,
Confident my time to shine will sway.

For now, I dwell in a healing space,
Reflecting on life, its every trace.
A time to mend, a moment to heal,
In the brokenness, a purpose to reveal.

  • How to start your Journey to self-love

    Daily writing prompt
What skills or lessons have you learned recently?

In life’s vast classroom, lessons unfold,
    Teaching wisdom, precious and gold.
A recent chapter, a poignant tale,
Of self-love learned, a ship set to sail.

To love oneself before others we guide,
A truth to embrace, not to let slide.
For in our pain, our loved ones feel,
Hurting them deeply, wounds that don’t heal.

To heal oneself, a skill to acquire,
Time, the gentle mender, the heart’s desire.
    Kindness and generosity, virtues profound,
Give healing its time, on gentle ground.

    In this journey of self-discovery,
No guide but self, a lone odyssey.
Yet, in the quiet, a voice I find,
Jesus, my solace, in whom I confide.

So, let the lessons of life unfold,
A symphony of growth, a story told.
To love oneself, the foundation firm,
In this sacred journey, a lifelong term.
