  • Not Fretting about What’s next?

What does freedom mean to you?

Freedom, to me, means not constantly fretting about “What’s next?” Often, we convince ourselves we’re content in our shell, yet beneath the surface, many of us harbor unknown worries. Some of us become overly preoccupied with tomorrow or the future. I’m one of those individuals who can’t shake the obsession with “what’s next?” I’ve attempted countless times and in myriad ways to live in the moment, but external pressures and my eldest daughter’s trauma persistently haunt me. It’s easier said than done, you know. Amidst all this turmoil, one thing remains certain: surrendering and entrusting all worries and concerns to the Almighty brings solace and peace of mind. As for you, how do you manage your anxieties and worries?

  • Gentle and composed

What was the best compliment you’ve received?

“You are very gentle and composed, miss,” is a new compliment I’ve been receiving recently. As someone who has struggled with a short temper, I’m constantly reminded to be calm and gentle in my words. I’ve been diligently working on it for quite some time, and I believe that God is answering my prayers, as evidenced by this compliment. It serves as proof that I am indeed becoming more composed than before.

  • Solace in moments of laughter

What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

I find solace in moments of solitary laughter, accompanied by the melodies of music. In those moments, I offer prayers to dispel any lingering negativity. Engaging in household chores or tending to my garden serves as a welcomed distraction, allowing me to immerse myself in tasks that soothe the mind. Today, I experienced a similar wave of emotions and indulged in a room makeover, a delightful endeavor indeed.

  • What I pray for 2024

    Daily writing prompt
    What are your biggest challenges?

The biggest challenges include not being able to have full faith in God, succumbing to the temptation of anger, hesitating to take risks, and more. I acknowledge that not all individuals face similar challenges; what might be significant for some could be inconsequential for others, and vice versa. One of the major challenges for this year is whether I will be able to save up some money or if I will be in a better financial position. As we grow older, it becomes challenging to sustain a hand-to-mouth existence indefinitely, as time seems to show no mercy to anyone. Therefore, I pray for growth in terms of wealth. Haha!

  • Rollercoaster life

Who says life isn’t hard? Who can confidently declare, “I’ve been through a lot, and you’re just touching the tip of the iceberg”? Each individual faces unique struggles and insecurities in life. For some, the challenges may be tougher and rougher, yet they emerge stronger. For others, seemingly minute issues inflict unbearable pain.

You might have shattered terribly, faced embarrassment to the point of no return, but here you are today, having overcome those trials. I pen down these thoughts to remind myself that everything is fleeting, and there’s a season for everything. Life’s treatment varies—while some may be experiencing smooth sailing, others, like me, are still striving to meet ends meet.

To some, I might be someone they admire, thinking that I am navigating life effortlessly. It’s akin to a rollercoaster ride; at times, we plummet, take unexpected twists and turns, only to soar again. The uncertainty is challenging, but we persevere, fueled by hope—the guiding light in the dark shadows, leading us towards the exit.

I acknowledge it’s a perilous fight against an unseen giant, yet we persist, looking at the brighter side of life. I believe we will mark our red-letter day with pride, shedding tears of happiness and accomplishment. Until then, let’s not relinquish hope and continue to march forward, much like soldiers fearlessly advancing for their motherland.
