  • How to Unleash youth Potential: Nurturing Holistic Development for a Flourishing Tomorrow

  • Emerging style

The profound transformations ushered in by modernization and industrialization have left an indelible mark on our era. In the present day, the process of modernizing society, spearheaded by the youthful generation, has grown immensely complex, exceeding our wildest expectations. The educated and eager young minds of today have been swept up in the whirlwind of progress and the sweeping changes brought about by the modern world to such an extent that they are harnessing its advantages to the fullest.

Youth in North East India, like many around the world, are increasingly enamored with Western culture. The prevalence of Korean pop culture imitation, for instance, is quite abundant. It’s evident that many aspire to connect their dreams with the pursuit of independence, wanting to reach for the stars. It’s a pivotal moment to contemplate whether ‘hitting the jackpot’ is a priority on my list. The future lies within our grasp, and we have the power to transform life’s challenges into opportunities, turning the bed of thorns into a bed of roses.

In my perspective, the modern world seems to have overlooked some of its most precious treasures. I question whether, if asked about our own identity, we would provide an accurate and genuine response. Who should shoulder the blame for this disconnect?

In today’s world, it often appears that embracing honesty, both with ourselves and others, is considered outdated. Instead, we tend to mimic the lives of those around us, without recognizing that each of us holds a unique set of questions and challenges. Trying to replicate someone else’s lifestyle cannot transform us into them, as each individual is inherently distinct and one-of-a-kind.

Many of us, especially the youth, find ourselves emulating Western styles, be it in our eating habits, drinking preferences, fashion choices, cosmetic routines, or even the languages we adopt. We often revel in the illusion of being on cloud nine, surrounded by numerous fair-weather friends, all the while unaware that some of them may be wolves in sheep’s clothing.

True enjoyment and satisfaction in life can only be attained when we have a deep love and appreciation for ourselves. Countless hidden treasures await discovery if we approach life with a realistic and optimistic perspective, making the most of the resources at our disposal. Merely observing and emulating others won’t lead to success. Rather than being imitators, let us proactively create something unique from our own talents and abilities, so that others may be inspired to emulate us.

“To effect meaningful change in the world, it is imperative to begin by changing oneself.”

  • Food for thought!

    Shirui Kashong (Shirui Hill)

I am not here to criticized, condemned or challenged anyone. I am here to put forward my limited knowledge on how I feel about who I am and who I must be.

At times I am quite ashamed that I belong to a community. I couldn’t believe that there are blood relations whole throughout the generation with the same perspectives. It’s not that I don’t appreciate nor appreciate my community. As for me, I have not been responsible as a responsible being. I doubt if I were asked, on my contribution for the welfare of my people, absolutely I would have no answer.

The forefathers had achieved milestones in their lifetime.  That results satisfaction and contentment in life. Which is why today’s society has the opportunity to enjoy their hard earn achievements.  The 21st century youngster, where standard of living has changed drastically. Technologies and science had taken its place that makes life easy yet lazy. At the same time, present is not better off than the past hamlet, who is to be blamed? Selfishness? Intelligents? Technology? No doubt today’s generations are actually resting on the laurel of the past.

I worry for the God’s given natural resources: i doubt its longevity and sustainability. It depend on us young people on how we take care of it, who knows one day some aliens may defeat us. When on that day shame, disappointment, regrets, remorse will be of no use as we have miss the boat when we are given chance.

Is the so-call developed society working together for equity? Are we doing our part for sustainability? Hundreds of unanswered questions jumble over my head. Why there are so many wolves in sheep clothing? What gain will I get if I don’t let others fly higher than me? What if I don’t care about others? How do I convince those around me with my opinion? What will people say or think of me if I do something different from them? And the question goes on…

Today, I would like to invite every young people, who are resting on the achievement of ancestors, to walk hand in hand with the Lord and march forward for better tomorrow. Vibrant and dynamic young friends take heart, “Youth are the pillar of the Nation. The future lies in the hand of the youth. Either create it or destroy it. It is fully in our hands”.

It is high time for us YOUTH to take into account that life is a matter of second. So also chances for creating something innovative is like a river that flows down the stream and never come back again. Let bygones be bygones and turn over a new leaf to mark our footprints. We have every right to be the caretaker of our land and preserve our culture, customs, and traditions. In the meantime, let us think out of the box, instead of always a one way traffic intellectual, to go beyond our comfort zones and create an amazing story for our next generation.

Let us not hold back with criticism and setbacks. We shall erect unchanging cornerstone of good will. That one day all of us will proclaim, “I have gone through struggles, toils, and hurdles and that have made who I am today”. In order to yield the result, we need to decide now! Either a good future or a corrupted future. Decision is ours!

    LONG LIVE SHIRUI!
