If I recall back correctly, the last time I celebrated holidays with pomp and gaiety was some 15 to 18 years back. When all my family members come home together to celebrate Christmas. We don’t wear new dresses like our friends nor have money, yet we were contented. We had the love and care from our parents. We don’t have many friends yet we were friends to each other inseparable in fact. We were satisfied with the 10 or 20 rs sinju (local food- made from mixed vegetables and fermented fish). Gone were the days where we look forward for the small prices we got from games we played during the Christmas celebration. The prizes that we’d received from the bible exam we participated. It’s been years now to be back home altogether as we (4 siblings) are home very rarely.

Grew up loving simple and less spicies food, however now I am slowly blending into Indian kind of food. Nevertheless Local poultry chicken stew with local herbs is still irreplacable.

How to Unleash youth Potential: Nurturing Holistic Development for a Flourishing Tomorrow
In a dynamic world filled with both prospects and trials, the significance of youth development in shaping a promising future cannot be overstated. Beyond mere education, “youth development” encompasses a well-rounded growth approach for young individuals, priming them for life’s intricacies.
Holistic youth development delves into cognitive, emotional, and social aspects. This process empowers youngsters to embrace their talents while nurturing empathy and accountability. Education, a foundation, should extend beyond textbooks, instilling critical thinking, creativity, and emotional resilience. Empowerment necessitates offering platforms for voicing ideas, encouraging extracurricular activities, and nurturing leadership.
Mentorship’s pivotal role guides young minds, providing insights and aiding career choices. By investing in comprehensive youth development, we cultivate tomorrow’s leaders. This imparts upon them the ability to play an active role in shaping society, seamlessly integrating proficiencies, principles, and ambitions into the very tapestry of their existence. The outcome is a resilient, adaptable, and compassionate generation, poised to confront challenges and seize future opportunities. Thus, holistic youth development paves the way for a genuinely thriving tomorrow.

Emerging style
The profound transformations ushered in by modernization and industrialization have left an indelible mark on our era. In the present day, the process of modernizing society, spearheaded by the youthful generation, has grown immensely complex, exceeding our wildest expectations. The educated and eager young minds of today have been swept up in the whirlwind of progress and the sweeping changes brought about by the modern world to such an extent that they are harnessing its advantages to the fullest.
Youth in North East India, like many around the world, are increasingly enamored with Western culture. The prevalence of Korean pop culture imitation, for instance, is quite abundant. It’s evident that many aspire to connect their dreams with the pursuit of independence, wanting to reach for the stars. It’s a pivotal moment to contemplate whether ‘hitting the jackpot’ is a priority on my list. The future lies within our grasp, and we have the power to transform life’s challenges into opportunities, turning the bed of thorns into a bed of roses.
In my perspective, the modern world seems to have overlooked some of its most precious treasures. I question whether, if asked about our own identity, we would provide an accurate and genuine response. Who should shoulder the blame for this disconnect?
In today’s world, it often appears that embracing honesty, both with ourselves and others, is considered outdated. Instead, we tend to mimic the lives of those around us, without recognizing that each of us holds a unique set of questions and challenges. Trying to replicate someone else’s lifestyle cannot transform us into them, as each individual is inherently distinct and one-of-a-kind.
Many of us, especially the youth, find ourselves emulating Western styles, be it in our eating habits, drinking preferences, fashion choices, cosmetic routines, or even the languages we adopt. We often revel in the illusion of being on cloud nine, surrounded by numerous fair-weather friends, all the while unaware that some of them may be wolves in sheep’s clothing.
True enjoyment and satisfaction in life can only be attained when we have a deep love and appreciation for ourselves. Countless hidden treasures await discovery if we approach life with a realistic and optimistic perspective, making the most of the resources at our disposal. Merely observing and emulating others won’t lead to success. Rather than being imitators, let us proactively create something unique from our own talents and abilities, so that others may be inspired to emulate us.
“To effect meaningful change in the world, it is imperative to begin by changing oneself.”
